Review: Star Trek Movie PDF Print E-mail

Star Trek Movie(Note: There are some SPOILERS in my review, though I try to keep them something less than blatant. If you don't want to hear anything about the actual plot of the movie, feel free to read the last two paragraphs and you'll get the bottom line without any hints.)

Hey all, Scott here with my review of the new Star Trek film.

Although Andy and I have secretly hated each other for years now, one thing we have always agreed upon is that "Star Trek" = Kirk, Spock & McCoy. There have been some other fine programs under the Star Trek banner: Next Generation and Deep Space Nine were both well done, but they are NOT "Star Trek," to my way of thinking.

Here's a quick link to the summary article that kicked us off.

One quick note:  I'm just one guy, and I do my best to keep up with trends, but if you find I'm missing some must-use tool or overlooking how to use something we already have in the toolbox, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Menace! Andy's Marvel Horror Market Report PDF Print E-mail

Andy CirinesiThose of you who pick up the new Overstreet Comic Book price guide each April are no doubt familiar with the market report printed in the beginning of the book. If you aren't, here's a quick pointer: Each year, the Overstreet guide has a handful of advisors discuss (based on their experience) what was hot and what was not during the past year.

Typically, the advisors tend to be the dealers who work the convention circuit traveling from town to town (New York, San Diego Comic-Con, Atlanta Fair, Etc.), which is an attempt to find the broadest cross section of comics sales, not just picking regional areas where certain titles always sell.  Keep in mind that this market report is really directed at the pre-1970's comic-buying crowd, which represents a typically much higher price tag than a collector digging through dollar boxes of recent back issues.

As I read the report, my mind drifted off to what my version of the market report would say for the past year:

Scott Loves PanicGood day, BTTP aficionados!

Things are always changing, but it seems like in the last few years those changes are happening faster and faster!  For most computer users, the windows you keep open on your system bear little resemblance to what used to be there even just 5 years ago.  Are you Twittering? Or Youtubing? Or Facebooking? Stuff that you might have said you'd never use in the past!

As a retail store, driven to find better ways to connect with our customers, we are always interested in improving and expanding communication channels.  We still love hanging out and yakking over the counter and shuffling our bits of paper that tell us who wants what...and yet we are finding a definite bonus to meet with you out in the social web as well!  You seem to like it, too, based on how many of you are opting to use our online subscription system.
